Welcome to Mercy Medical Center’s Annual Report. As you look through this report, you will see a recurring theme — high quality, patient-centered healthcare close to home. Mercy was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1900 and, for the past century, we have been devoted to a healthcare ministry of caring for the sick and improving the health of the communities we serve.

The mission to serve our community with the best possible healthcare remains at the forefront of all we do. It is reflected in the March 2011 Commonwealth Fund case study that recognizes Mercy as being in the top 3% of all facilities with respect to low readmission rates; and, again, in the nearly 18 months of consistent door-to-balloon times of less than the national benchmark of 90 minutes. This year we welcomed three new administrators, Mike Trachta, Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, and Laura Reed, Senior Vice President Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer, and Doug Jontz, Vice President of Human Resources. Their foresight, leadership skills and commitment to quality care has enhanced our leadership team and will serve us well into the future.
