  • Asthma screenings held at the Lindale Mall Food Court. Dr. Lyla Schweiger, Allergy and Asthma Clinic, PC, provided consultations and evaluations.

  • Colon cancer Webinar led by Colleen Mohr, RN, MS, OCN, FNP-BC, Mercy’s Cancer Genetics Program.
  • Fibromyalgia and how to live with the symptoms was the topic of discussion of the Steps2Health seminar with Nicole Plagge, physical therapist at Mercy Rehabilitation Services.
  • Foot clinic held at Mercy’s Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Center by staff from Joslin Diabetes Center, located at Mercy Health Plaza. Don’t ignore these foot signs of trouble: Pain when walking, burning, tingling/numbness, sores, cuts or changes in the shape of your feet/toes.

  • Grief (during the holidays) Webinar presented by Hospice of Mercy Bereavement Coordinator Barbara Koch and Chaplain Kim Vogel.
  • Happy Feet, a walking club sponsored by MercyCare Mount Vernon celebrated its fifth year with a record number of members.
  • HPV & Gardasil vaccine Webinar presented by Dr. Sharon Bertroche of MercyCare Marion. This year, 6 million men and women will become infected with HPV and most won’t even know it!
  • Health questions were answered by Dr. Cam Campbell at the Walk with a Doc event at the Downtown Farmer’s Market; Dr. Campbell also discussed heart health questions at a Walk with a Doc at Lindale Mall.
  • Living with Osteoporosis was held in Mercy’s Hallagan Education Center.

  • Optimism and its power to boost happiness was topic of Steps2Health seminar led by Kate Klefstad, Wellness Coach, Mercy Fitness Center.
  • Orthopaedic Seminar was held in Hallagan Education Center featuring Sandeep Munjal, M.D., FAAOS, M.S. (Ortho), M.Ch. (Ortho), Orthopaedic Surgeon, Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa, PC.
  • Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) Steps2Health Seminar was held at Lindale Mall and free PAD screenings were offered at Mercy Medical Center.
  • Pre-diabetes and metabolic syndrome are preventable, and Dr. Arun Movva discussed diabetes prevention and treatment, then answered individual questions at a Walk with the Doc event. Denise Scheer, RD, LD, CDE and Jane Shaw, RN, CNN, CDE , discussed risk factors and prevention at a Live Webinar.
