This year we celebrated a substantial 26% increase in volunteers! Our 700 volunteers do everything from deliver newspapers to patient rooms to helping visitors find their ways at the hospital. Total volunteer hours were 109,308, with an estimated monetary value of $2,334,818.80.
Thank you to our volunteers!
Geo Hunter’s smiling face welcomed people to Mercy on Monday through Friday during his summer break from school. Geo is 14 and a freshman at Washington High School. He says his grandfather has been a longtime Mercy volunteer, so he decided to give it a try. He likes it so much he will continue volunteering during the school year, greeting people Saturday evenings at the Emergency Department. Thanks, Geo, for volunteering at Mercy!
Claire Sharp’s “can-do” attitude and joy for life have been making a difference at Mercy for nearly 40 years. She wears many hats — from greeting visitors to delivering flowers to working in the mailroom to volunteering as a Eucharistic Minister — Claire does it all! She even used to visit area schools dressed as a Quentin the Frog, a former Mercy mascot from days gone by. With more than 7,500 volunteer hours, Claire has touched many lives and we are so grateful to have her at Mercy. Thanks, Claire, for living out The Mercy Touch!
