Thanks to the efforts of two devoted wives who lost their husbands, Mercy Medical Center and the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy now have some double hospital beds to allow couples the comfort of sharing a bed during a difficult time.

When Barb Rhame’s husband, Bob, passed away in September 2010, she put his memorial funds toward the first two double beds at Mercy, lovingly referred to as “Bob’s Beds.” Marilyn Gooding and husband, Ken, appreciated the beds during Ken’s hospital stay. When Ken later moved to Hospice House, they missed the comfort of sharing a bed, so after Ken passed away in February 2011, Marilyn started a memorial fund for double beds at Hospice House.
